Touching 1910 glass plate negative of Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson on the dugout steps and talking with team mascot Jimmy (Grealish) in uniform. Taken by famous photographer Charles Conlon, the negative is in beautiful condition and it comes with the sleeve which has Conlon's handwritten notes on it. Glass plates from Conlon, especially his larger examples from the 1910 era, are extremely rare in the hobby as the vast majority were housed in the archives of the Sporting News and subsequently sold as an entire archive. Very few have ever hit the open market and this is one of the most significant names that has ever been offered for sale publicly and the only one of Mathewson we remember seeing. The rarity and significance of this piece can not be overstated, especially when factoring in the condition and quality!
