Warren Spahn played in four games for the Braves in 1942 before joining the cause and fighting for his country in WWII. He fought with distinction at the Battle of the Bulge and received a purple heart for his efforts. He was one of the most distinguished of all baseball players that fought. Here is Spahn, a relative nobody still but in uniform with the Braves and taken during spring training. There is a fantastic note on the back that indicates he was "just out of service." Despite some pinholes and glue residue at the corners, this is one of his most important images we have ever offered and one that is sure to be a distinguished addition to even the most advanced collection!
