Incredible image of the FIRST voyage to America of the Hindenburg as it lay safely moored in Lakehurst New Jersey on May 10, 1936. There is a note on the back about how the nose had to be put all the way against the far wall in order to fit into the massive hangar in New Jersey. The Hindenburg would not meet as happy an ending the next time it arrived in Lakehurst! It stands today, like the Titanic, as a symbol of the fallibility of mans technological achievements, no matter how great. Photo is crystal clear and bold with a full paper caption from the International News on the back. One of the finest images of the Hindenburg we have ever seen and the only example of this particular photo we have handled in any form.
