Walter Bond was a good baseball player but his name has gone down in history as one of tragedy instead of triumph. Bond played from 1960-67 and became the first slugger in the history of the Houston Colt 45's belting 20 homers in 1964 (when this photo was issued). Bond started the 1967 in the major leagues, but was diagnosed with leukemia and died later that season. Images of the slugger are tough, especially in uniform with the Colt 45's. A fine image in great shape and extremely rare!
