The "Babe Ruth" of the minor leagues spent only one season in the Major Leagues in 1931 with the Phillies, he had a good season batting .303 but was regarded as a "poor fielder" and never again played at the highest level. If ever there was a player that should have been born in a different era it was Arlett. Had he been born a few decades later and benefited from the advent of the designated hitter he likely would have been a fixture at the major league level. Images of Arlett with the Phillies are very difficult to find and this is a nice one from the International News. Photo has been glued to some extra paper by a newspaper archive but it is completely original and beautiful.
