While the Nazi salute became mandatory within the Nazi party in 1926, images of it from before the 1930's are almost non-existent, but when the party took over power in Germany, the salute was everywhere. The offered 1933 photograph shows Adolf Hitler as he demonstrates the gesture himself at the funeral of Admiral Von Schroeder and surrounded by those who all show their sign of respect to their new leader and government with the outstretched hand that is now synonymous with evil. An incredible early image of both the salute and Hitler in the same photo, this was issued by the Associated Press and carries a stamp and full paper caption on the back. A rare image from the year that for all intents and purposes, the Nazi party took hold! One of the best images of Hitler we have offered, this one has a bit of wear and a piece of tape at the top from publication.
