Incredible 1911 real photo postcard of Notre Dame star player Knute Rockne in uniform and posing at the ballpark. One of only a handful of images known to exist of Rockne as a player, this is also a real photo postcard FROM HIS ESTATE, making it his rookie card as well! Recently removed from a Rockne photo album, the rest of the book with come with the postcard for provenance, one card even is addresses to "L. Rockne" and has a 1909 postmark on the back! One of the most iconic football players of all time, this is absolutely his rookie card and as such it is a Hall of Fame worthy relic from the history of football, offered here individually (out of the album) for the first time ever. The card is almost perfect with the tiniest corner wrinkle making it a 4.5 on our scale for photographs but this card would grade a 5/10 most likely by PSA. One of the most important pieces of photography we have ever offered for sale! The only other place we have seen this image is in Notre Dame yearbooks and programs from 1912-1913 and we believe it was taken in 1911 but it certainly predates 1913!
