1911 Absolutely incredible posed action photograph of young Shoeless joe Jackson from the Cleveland Indians at the ballpark. Showing off his form and holding his follow through, Jackson is the focal point of photographer Louis Van Oeyen wh has graced the reverse with his earliest stamp. The photo has exceptional quality and clarity, with note to the skill required by a photographer in 1911 to make the figure of Jackson crystal clear whle the background is intentionally blurred. The tones of the silver gelatin surface are perfect and the resulting specimen is the finest image of Joe Jackson we have ever handled! Photo would be in perfect shape but it has a crease/rip on the lower right corner which appears to have been professionally restored after it was sold by the Baseball Magazine in 1996. The photo was used in the 1912 Reach baseball guide with reference to the early 1911 date and Jackson's season in the caption. For the collector or investor who wants the absolute best, this is it!
