Large 1950 portrait photograph of pioneer black baseball pitcher Dan Bankhead in uniform with the Brooklyn Dodgers, shortly after he broke the color barrier for pitchers! Taken by famous photographer for the Dodgers, Barney Stein, this is not only an important rookie year photograph of this underrated star, but it is also the photo used to make his 1951 Bowman rookie card! One of only a handful of examples of this photo known to exist, this one is nearly perfect and presents beautifully, offered here for the first time ever! Stamp from the Houston Press on the back is a later filing mark and this is an original 1950 photograph!
