The 1927 Yankees are arguably the greatest team of all time but what is not disputed is their collectability. Everything associated with the club is widely collected and it is the obscure players of the bunch that are the toughest to find. Enter relief pitcher Joe Giard who is a sort of cult hero for being the most obscure of the bunch. His autograph is exceedingly rare and sells for thousands of dollars (in some cases sales have topped $10,000) and in much the same way, quality images of Giard are essentially impossible to find. This portrait photograph from his 1925 rookie season breaks the mold however and is a fantastic image from famed photographer Charles Conlon and stamped on the back. We have only ever handled a few images of Giard in over twenty years of searching and this one is THE best. Condition and quality are both outstanding and the fact that this is work of Charles Conlon is just the icing on the cake.
