Large 1937 dramatic photograph of the twisted wreckage of the famous airship Hindenburg on the ground at Lakehurst, New Jersey the morning after it burst into flames as one of the worst air disasters in American history. A large photo that could be hanging in a museum or gallery, this was issued by Underwood and Underwood with a bold stamp on the back and a full paper caption that refers to the accident as happening "last night." It has some detail on the caption that was likely the first time these numbers hit the editing desk of the newspapers these were sent to. We have handled several Hindenburg photographs over the years but this is the ONLY example of this particular work from Underwood we have ever seen in any form and it is being offered here for the first time ever fresh out of their archives. This was possibly never actually released and might be the only copy out there!
