1951 Photograph from the pre-game ceremony (national anthem) taking place just a moment or two before the start of the National League playoff series between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants. This was the epic series that led to Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard Round the World" and a million memories both good and bad across the baseball landscape. Here we see the Giants leadoff hitter waiting for the anthem to take his place in the batters box while Roy Campanella stands at home plate ready for action. Taken by photographer Barney Stein and stamped on the back, this is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen.
