Breathtaking 1947 action photograph from Jackie Robinson's rookie year as he comes crashing into home plate with the intensity and fury that enabled him to fight through the terrible racism he endured during his rookie season in baseball. He absolutely wrecks Bob Scheffing of the Cubs and sends him into the air with a large cloud of dust in the process while the umpire looks on and two photographs look on! An incredible touch that adds to the weight of the photograph is that one of the photographers in black and was probably following Jackie's progress during the season and rooting for him every step of the way. An incredible image with important social overtones, this is from Acme and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well. The photo has a touch of crazing from age but overall it presents beautifully and this is the only example of this important photograph we have ever seen!
