1920 Large photograph of a man named John H. Weisner in uniform with the Pittsburgh Pirates and taken during spring training. His name is nowhere to be found on any minor or major league rosters making this a fun research project. A slice of history, this man represents the hundreds of sandlot boys who tried out for jobs in the major leagues around WWI and could not afford to toil in the minors so after being cut, they just faded into history. This photo lets un know there was once a man named John Weisner who was good enough to be invited to spring training with the Pirates and talent like that deserves to be remembered.
