1939 Photograph of an ailing and sick Lou Gehrig who despite being diagnosed with terminal ALS, is seen at the All Star Game and showing that the fire was still there as he laid out the ground rules before the start of the contest. A poignant and touching image showing that Gehrig was still trying to fight for his life and the game he loved. The umpires and all around him seem to be praying for the man and giving him a well deserved reverence while he explains simple rules of the game. Condition is quite nice with a small corner chip and the photo is encapsulated by PSA with their more attractive older holders as a "Type 1" as well! A poignant image from the last days of the great Lou Gehrig in uniform.
