1936 Lou Gehrig close up artistic photograph of his bat and powerful Legs! By 1936 Lou Gehrig was the toast of Baseball and it's greatest star. While we know now that his decline was two years away, when this image was taken he was in his prime and poised to re-write the record books. While a study of a players Feet and Legs might seem unusual, you would have to understand the circumstances. Gehrig was poised to play in his 1800th Consecutive Game in 1936 which was a feat unheard of in the Rough and Tumble Game of Baseball before WWII. To examine why he was so durable reporters and photographers began to study the individual aspects of his physical body, especially his powerful legs and feet! Beautiful image with so much detail that a repair mark on his pants, and cleat marks on his bat can easily be seen with the naked eye. His legs are powerful and precise and even without knowing the subject matter a student of the game could probably guess this image pictures the legs of the great Lou Gehrig! Condition is very nice with some editorial marks and artistic enhancements that make the photo look better. Conservatively graded 9.5/10! This is the only example of this image we have ever seen!
