Dramatic 1931 photograph of the body of Lowell Bayles as it lay on the road having just been ejected from his flaming land plane in his attempt to shatter the world record speed record. While he may have had a breath or two left when this image was snapped, Bayles would die as a result of this crash. An extremely rare original example of this famous photograph, this was issued by Acme/NEA and stamped on the back.
