Around 1905 when this photograph was taken of the powerful arm of James J. Corbett, the former Heavyweight Champion of the World, sports photography was still in it's infancy. The thought of taking artistic image of hands, feet, eyes and such were not yet part of any photographers craft. In fact, this image of James Corbett's powerful arm is one of the first we know of in the world, taken just after his reign as champ, but still as a legendary sports figure. Despite some heavy paint done for publication, the image remains here strong and bold. Offered here for the first time ever, this is an important piece of sports photography that presents well with note to a crease on the upper right.
