Original 1926 World Series game action photograph showing young Lou Gehrig sliding safely into third base with typical Gehrig intensity. Dust is flying and the umpire is crouching to get a close look while Gehrig grits his teeth. It does not look like the hook slide was necessary, but Gehrig was not going to take any chances. A really nice image with the camera situated at the perfect angle to capture Gehrig's face with nice clarity considering the camera was situated in the stands. Dated on the back by NEA and identified in vintage handwriting as the fifth game, second inning in St. Louis. One of the best early Gehrig action photos we have seen!
