1947 Detailed photograph of the greatest baseball player of all time Babe Ruth as he leans his frail body toward the microphone and addresses a packed house at Yankee Stadium and expresses his appreciation. One of the more famous images of Ruth that has ever been taken, it is often used to illustrate how bad the last few years of his life were and how the throat disease that took his life was ravaging his body. A decade earlier he was still able to send baseballs out of Yankee Stadium, now he could barely stand up. Taken by Acme and with remnants of a paper caption on the back, this is a beautiful clean example with perfect clarity and contrast. A poignant piece of baseball history that we have not offered in some time!
