Despite being one of the best players in baseball history and the most dominant hitter of his era, images of Jesse Burkett are almost impossible to find. He dominated the game in an era before on-field photography (1890's) and during a depression when there were essentially no baseball cards produced. By the time both became popular, he was gone, off living out his golden years in obscurity. The offered photograph from shortly before his death is one of only a handful of known images of Burkett we have ever seen, issued by Wide World Photos and in great shape.
