Important April 13, 1947 photograph of Jackie Robinson playing in one of his first and only spring training games as a full fledged member of the Brooklyn Dodgers (he had signed his contract with the team three days earlier on April 10) against the New York Yankees! He would make his major league debut two days later in one of the most important moments in American history! The offered photograph is one of the only images we have seen that bridges the gap between his signing and his debut, and it shows Robinson in full uniform taking a throw at first base and the paper caption mentions his recent contract signing. Identified as the work of photographer Harry Hirsch, the photo is crisp and clean with exceptional clarity which more than compensates for the wear at the top border and a smaller portion on the far right border. An important piece of baseball history that is the only example of this photograph we know of in the hobby.
