For five years After Jack Johnson took over as Heavyweight Champion of the World in 1910 there was a cry for a "Great White Hope" to dethrone him. Man after man tried and failed, but there was something different about Jess Willard. A huge athlete that was a real life cowboy from a working ranch, his size and power were finally a match for Johnson and he defeated him on April 5, 1915. The offered photograph is a crystal clear image from George Grantham Bain and stamped on the back and is one of the greatest images of Willard we have ever seen!
