It is weird to think there was a day when Willie Mays and Hank Aaron were tied in career homers! It happened in 1972 and by chance they would be playing each other each with 648 career home runs each. Aaron was hot on Willie's heels and the aging Mays was about to be passed. Although the back of this photo is blank, we sold another example of this photo that has a paper caption that notes that both had 648 homers in their career! A nearly perfect image from a local New York photographer (Dan Farrell, who took famous photos of JFK's funeral in 1963).
