1945 Rare aerial photograph of the landing craft approaching Iwo Jima in their attempt to take the strategic stronghold. With Mt. Surabachi dominating the photo, the wake created by hundreds of landing craft as they approach makes for an artistic and important reminder of the scale of the attack. A fine image from the Associated Press that is stamped on the back and with a later paper caption as well. One of the few originals dated from 1945 we have ever seen! Photo presents well but it does have a few small spots of paper loss on the left border.
