The 1960 Cotton Bowl game between Syracuse and Texas was a dogfight between two of the best teams in the country, but history tells us it was MUCH more than that. Texas was still fighting the Civil War and Syracuse had some of the best black players in the country. Add to that the magnitude of the game and you had dirty play, racial epithets thrown at record pace, and people spitting in the face of black players. Eventually tensions blew up and a fight on the field broke out. Talked about, analyzed, and even immortalized in the film "The Express", this is the only vintage photograph from this event we have ever seen and it presents here beautifully and stamped on the back by the original photographer from the Dallas Morning News as well. An important piece of sports history offered here for the first time ever!
