1955 Photograph of members of the New York Yankees as they arrived in Japan to play baseball games in a show of solidarity, just ten years after the end of WWII. Many of these players served in WWII and this makes the photo quite touching. The photo shows the procession of cars and banners welcoming the Yankees to the island which ten years ago was hostile territory. A perfect 10/10 that is from the estate of Casey Stengel.
