Incredible 1937 photograph of slugger Jimmie Foxx flexing his muscles and beginning his swing as the pitch is about to be delivered. An artistic photo showing his swing from the catcher or umpire's perspective, this is a rare piece of photography with an artistic flare to it, usually reserved for subjects of a higher social standing than a game of baseball. The clarity is so good you can see the smallest muscles in Foxx's arms tighten as he starts his swing. Stamped on the back by a photographer from the Detroit News and in great shape, this is possibly the only example of this photograph that exists. The top of the photo has some light crazing from age, but it otherwise presents beautifully. A work of baseball art that could be hanging in a museum or gallery.
