Large and impressive 1927 photograph of Paul and Lloyd Waner the young superstar brothers from the Pittsburgh Pirates as they posed with their family before the start of the World Series against the famous Murderers Row Yankees. Lloyd looks pretty happy to be in the big series (he was a rookie what did he know) but Paul is seen looking over his shoulder with a look of dread... perhaps Ruth was taking batting practice! The Pirates were a great team and the Waner brothers were a big reason why, but the Yankees were just too much. The offered photo is an absolutely superb example of pre-war baseball photography from Underwood and Underwood in great condition. One of the best photographs of the Waners that exists and with perfect quality and contrast.
