Original c. 1952 photograph of young Yankees star Mickey Mantle as he works out and shows manager Casey Stengel how his knee is doing. He busted his knee up in a famous fielding accident with Joe DiMaggio late in the last season and the world was waiting to see how Mantle would respond. The file date on the back is from 1954 but we feel the original wire caption on the front would have been dated 1952 if it was still present and it was stamped with the date after the caption was clipped off.
