Fred Mitchell was one of the earliest stars of the American League, and then became a prominent manager for the Boston Braves and then for the Chicago Cubs. He was one of the most popular veterans of the game and this image seems to capture every one of his years in the sun with every wrinkle! A fine HUGE image this is a clear piece of photography. For some reason Mitchell seems to capture the deadball era of baseball through the lens of a photographer better than almost every other player of his era.
