Following in the footsteps of Jackie Robinson were hundreds of Negro Leaguers who dreamed that a chance was coming their way too. For some, the call never came while others like Pat Scantlebury, finally got a chance, although it was a little late to make a real difference. Scantlebury was a star for years in the Negro Leagues and put up some huge numbers in the minor leagues, but still had to wait and wait some more before he made his debut in 1956 at 39 years old. The offered image captures the star in his Cuban uniform, dreaming of the day he would get his shot! Condition and quality make this a special piece and this is one of the only images of Scantlebury we have ever seen.
