In 1937 the overwhelming opinion across the globe was that Hitler was a brilliant leader with a scary edge to him and while he was feared, he was respected. As such, images of people protesting him were not common in 1937 with this being one of the first we have seen. Here two students from Columbia University (one dressed like Hitler and another dressed like an exiled German scholar) mock the Fuhrer outside a German bookstore. Issued by Acme, this is a thought provoking image in great shape that we have never seen before.
