c. 1918 Portrait photograph of the most important and highest paid comedian of the early silent film era, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. Before his fall from grace in what would become the first Hollywood sex-scandal, he was the most famous actor in the world. When this photo was taken he was the highest paid actor in Hollywood, but when this photo was re-used in early 1923 he was just hoping to land a job. Despite being innocent of the charges against him, his reputation never recovered. The stamp on the back dates this to the late 1910's and it is one of his finest we have offered. Condition is not bad but there is an ink spot from publication art that remains on his bow-tie (could probably be removed).
