It hard to believe it now, but the Yankees actually went through a bit of a drought in the 1940's… if you can call three years with a pennant a drought. At the end of the 1946 season they were on the hunt for a new manager and hoped to turn their fortunes around. The leading candidate was former catcher and brain-trust of several Yankees championship squads Bill Dickey. The problem was, he did not want the job! Here he is pictured again reinforcing the statement that he did not want to be the manager of the Yankees! An interesting image and issued though Acme with a full paper caption on the back.
