The 1919 Black Sox scandal is well documented, as is their expulsion after the 1920 season. Many players fought for years against the league for either back pay, reinstatement, or to clear their names and this process went on for decades. In this rare image we see banished ballplayers Chic Gandil and Swede Risberg in court suing for back pay and the man who kicked them out of the game at the head of the table, Kennesaw Mountain Landis. An extremely rare image showing Black Sox players facing the man who kicked them out, this is a fantastic new discovery from NEA that is almost certainly the only one that exists!
