Following the success of Larry Doby, the Cleveland Indians were the first franchise to go "all in" with Negro League talent. Over a short period they signed Satchel Paige, Minnie Minoso and a slew of other stars including Roy Welmaker. Although he never made the big club, he won the triple crown of pitching in 1946 in the Venezuelan Professional League and was a superstar in the Negro Leagues. Here he poses with two of the men who blazed the trail before him, Minnie Minoso and Larry Doby. An important piece of baseball history showing three of the men who broke down the color barriers in the American League!
