In 1905 as part of their spring training the Detroit Tigers played some games and spent some time spreading goodwill among the people of Cuba. A unique image, this captures the clown prince of baseball Germany Schaefer as he spends some time hanging out with young Cuban children on the street during a break in the action. Taken by teammate Matty McIntyre, this is a touching piece of baseball history considering it would be more than forty years before a black player would be allowed in the game!
