One of the earliest images of Lou Gehrig we have had the pleasure of offering, this is a 1925 image of the young Yankees rookie as he makes a stretch at first base to field the ball. Gehrig is extremely young in the image (he actually looks more like 1924 images we have seen of him) and we have been able to identify the glove as one that he used in the 1925 season. The stamp on the back from the International Newsreel is also consistent with the 1925 date as it was used from 1922-28 but began to be phased out later in the production. A clear and bold example that is one of the best images of a young Gehrig we have ever seen in any form, despite the artistic cut done by the newspaper for publication. An exciting new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever!
