Leo Durocher was a fine player but an even better manager. Most probably thought that when he was first awarded the job of manager in 1939 that he would not last. He was too brash and harsh on the umpires to be a long term success. He had his troubles, but along the way he was one of the greatest managers in baseball history. This portrait photo represents the genesis of this tenure as Durocher was pictured here as the NEW manager of the Dodgers! Portrait photograph in full uniform has a large paper caption attached to the back which dates it to Feb 24, 1939!
