In the racially insensitive era before the integration of baseball, Negro League players did what they could to play the game they loved and make some money in the process… even if that meant degrading themselves in the process in the name of "entertainment." One of these such instances was the antics of the Indianapolis Clowns baseball team that was forced to embrace and further racial stereotypes to the cheers and jeers of spectators of their brand of baseball. This image from the mid 1940's shows two of the players wearing traditional Clowns uniforms as they perform between innings. An important piece of baseball history that really speaks to how far we have come as a society. Condition and quality are both outstanding.
