Of all the members enshrined in the baseball Hall of Fame, the toughest to find images of might be Effa Manley. Little known in her day but vaulted to new heights through revisionist history, she is now the only woman inducted in Cooperstown. Few thought to photograph the female owner of the Negro league Newark Eagles in her own time, and after he death few items survived making anything related to her extremely rare. To the best of our knowledge, there are about 30 known photographs in the world of Manley, and only 3-5 of them are in the public domain to be bought and sold. This example offered here is the first we have seen come up for sale in years and it might be the best! A full 8X10 taken shortly after she took control of the team in the early 1940's, the photo is in nice shape overall with a small paper scrape and some cool editorial enhancements from publication. Of importance to the Hall of Fame and Rookie collector, this is one that has never been offered before and will likely never be seen again!
