Today press boxes, reporters and media of all types are common to the sports we love. In 1912, this was a new thing and the sea of wireless telegraph operators at the Polo grounds for the first World Series game was something to behold! At least thirty men in full suits sit in front of their handsets with a large amount of vendors and errand boys behind them as well. Reporters and other dignitaries begin to fill their "boxes" behind them while the players in the third base dugout can also be seen. A fantastic image from George Grantham Bain that really speaks to the burgeoning popularity of the game!
