Original 1903 team photograph of the New York Giants as they gather at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in full uniform and pose along their grand-staircase for a photographer from Falk Studios. This is one of the finest and most popular team photos ever taken. Led by young pitching sensation Christy Mathewson (center) the image pictures seventeen members in uniform and it is full of other stars and Hall of Famers like Joe McGinnity, Roger Bresnahan, John McGraw, and Dummy Taylor among others. Photograph is a highly silvered original from the early 1900's and beneath the tape on back (added years ago to reinforce a hard crease through the middle) is the stamp from the oldest stock photography company in America (Brown Brothers of New York). While it is impossible to date the example to an exact year, we feel this is absolutely a pre 1910 piece of photography! Clean and clear this is the only original example of this photograph we have ever seen outside of the handful of postcards that come up for sale from time to time and are highly sought after by collectors. Despite the condition flaws, this is one of the top team photos that has come to market in years! NOTE, Falk ONLY issued this photograph in this manner and although it was issued by the original photographer in exactly the manner he intended, it will most likely get a "Type 3" from PSA. This is one of the differences in the system we use as opposed to PSA as we take photographers intent into account. As such this is a "Vintage 1" original of this example, but please keep this classification difference in mind when bidding. There are no "Type 1" examples of this photo because of how it was issued.
