Large team photograph of the National Association champion Chicago White Stockings taken shortly after they had been crowned the best team in baseball. This assemblage of talent would ultimately become the Chicago Cubs in 1876, but not before a few changes, the fire destroyed their ballpark, and they joined the National League. Photo includes Long Levi Meyerle and one of the first players banished for gambling (Craver) as well as other stars, this is one of the most famous early photos in baseball history. The offered large example is a c. 1930's re-strike from a duplicate negative that still is nearly a hundred years old in its own right! If you don't have $50,000 for the original, this is a pretty good option!
