While Babe Ruth was known for being a beast of a man who hit prodigious homers in his prime, here is a shadow of his former self as he takes what we believe are his last swings in uniform late in life (about 1947). Pictured in uniform but with the effects of the disease that would take his life clearly evident, this is a poignant reminder of the frailty of life as even the great Babe Ruth was no match for father time. With a beautiful stadium backdrop, this is an important image in fine condition. Issued sometime in the 1950's, this has a later file stamp on the back but is clearly a vintage example .
