Robert Capa is one of the most famous war photographers of all time. He pioneered the craft and his images of the D-Day invasion are among the most coveted of all time. The offered example was taken in the days directly after the invasion in which he captured the aftermath of the attack. The offered art photograph shows a lone helmet from a fallen soldier placed atop a tree branch and darkened to symbolize the death of the man who once wore it. A touching piece of original war photography, the reverse of this photo is stamped several times by Capa using his credit from when he was on assignment with LIFE magazine and it also includes a small paper caption identifying the image as being from 1944 in Normandy. A double weight silver gelatin masterpiece, this is a photo we have never seen before in any form and should be hanging in a museum or gallery! A true work of art!
