Bill Steele was a good pitcher, but you would not know it by looking at his record. He played for some pretty bad St. Louis Cardinals teams and despite posting a sub-four ERA in 1911, he led the league with 19 losses! The offered photograph is a spectacular combination of condition, clarity and a famous photographer all coming together to make a special piece of baseball history as Steele is captured in uniform by Paul Thompson. Stamped on the back and a perfect 10/10!
