1938 Dramatic action photo showing Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig as he is caught at second base trying to stretch a single into a double during the World Series against the Cubs. This is a unique image from the New York Daily News that is a poignant reminder of how Gehrig was still working hard despite already being afflicted with ALS. Condition and quality are both outstanding and this is a clear image despite the speed of action and primitive camera equipment of the day.
