Frank Filan was one of the top war photographers during the intense fighting of WWII in the Pacific. His images are highly sought after and quite rare with the offered example being one that is almost identical to the one that got him the Pulitzer Prize for photography in this very year (1944). The image captures dead Japanese soldiers as they litter the beach of Namur Island while the victorious Americans stand at the rear in formation. Filan is identified on the paper caption and the photo remains here in beautiful shape and stamped on the back from the Associated Press. This is the ONLY Filan original we have ever offered and it is a masterpiece in great shape!
